"LUCKY13"
The 13 exercises at left are a must for jazz independence.
If you can play these at will, you will have better jazz independence than many of your cohorts who call themselves jazz drummers.
Start slowly...at quarter note = 95. You should be able to control these patterns at up to quarter note = 184. Faster if you can, but don't rush ahead to try and get fast too soon. Many of these are very difficult. This is going to take some real hard work!

Great Drum Solo!!!!!
Philly Joe Jones
solo on Deep Night
This is a fantastic drum solo from one of Bop drumming's greatest soloists....Philly Joe Jones. The track is "Deep Night" from Sonny Clark's album "Cool Struttin'." The drum solo, one full chorus, begins right after the piano solo, near the end of the tune. It has everything! Cool phrases, chops, nasty licks....note that the black triangle noteheads denote stick on stick....download this solo and learn it....it kills.
STEVE GADD's Solo from "Samba Song" off of the Chick Corea album, "Friends."
This is a Gadd classic..... Download the PDF's Now!!!
