This time we’re going to look at another great Steve Gadd idea. It’s one of his staples; you’ll hear it frequently in his solos. This online drum lesson will include video and a PDF with the lick written out note-for-note.
One thing that I talk about in the video is the idea of repeating a phrase. Often, when Gadd solos, he repeats his ideas (like the lick we’re learning in this post) for several bars. Please don’t be afraid to repeat a great sounding phrase! It’s a musical way to play and the listener may enjoy the repetition.
