I’ve been repeatedly asked to post videos of the “Nasty Licks” series that I’ve been giving to you.
So far, the series has been strictly made up of PDF transcriptions. Let it be known: I’ve heard your requests! Here is first of many videos that I hope will be helpful to you. So, let’s get started! If you want to read the original article about “Nasty Lick 85,” you can find it HERE. Otherwise, feel free to skip that for now and just download the PDF of Nasty Lick 85: “Nasty Lick 85”
Use the PDF as a guide along with the videos..in the second and third videos (“Nasty Lick 85 -slow” & “Nasty Lick 85 -fast”) I’ll be playing the exercises on the PDF top to bottom.
About the three videos below: the first is just me improvising with the ideas…just to give you an idea of how this stuff sounds. The second is me playing through the exercises slowly at around 60 bpm. Finally, the third video is me playing the exercises at a good performance tempo: 76 bpm (if that number seems low, remember, the licks are 32nd notes, so it will sound a lot more impressive than the number first suggests).
Note that I play each of the five exercises on the PDF four times and then move to the next one without stopping.
PS – Imagine that you could regularly get these Nasty Licks delivered to your email inbox every time we post one. Great drumming vocabulary to raise your drumming level–free. Go do it–just type your email addy into the form below, and click that button.
