This one is a killer. Sometimes you find an idea that you think is great and you work on it for a while but it is difficult to get it to the point where you can really use it. It just doesn’t feel natural and you don’t feel totally comfortable with it. Other times, you find a drumming pattern or lick that you can play fairly easily. I’m not completely sure I always understand why an idea is easier or harder for me, but when I find one that’s easy and sounds great, I stick with it. That’s what this one is like!
I love how this lick sounds. It’s 32nd notes around the drums (it’s generally very close to Nasty Lick #115, which you can find here: “Nasty Lick #115 | The Roundhouse Six”
I don’t have a video for this yet, but I will soon—I promise. But Nasty Lick #117 is too good to hold for the video—I feel compelled to give it to you now.
Check out the PDF: Nasty Lick #117
Now take that PDF into the practice room….let me know how it goes. Video coming soon.
PS – Imagine that you could regularly get these Nasty Licks delivered to your email inbox every time we post one. Great drumming vocabulary to raise your drumming level–free. Go do it–just type your email addy into the form below, and click that button.
