Nasty Drum Lick 90 is merely a simple variation on Nasty Lick 89. But, it sounds so good, I had to write it out and give it to all of you here in “The Drumming Blog.” For review, Nasty Lick 89 is a five note pattern: RLRLF, and it’s phrased as 16th note triplets.
With 90, we simply change what the hands do after the first five notes and we get a great sounding idea.

In fact, I’m pretty sure that this video shows me discovering the idea, and finding some phrasings that work for it (some phrasing ideas are detailed in examples 3, 4 and 5 of the PDF).
